ABOUT US

About The Oaklands, a family-run care home in Bridgend

The Oaklands is a warm, traditional residential home in Bridgend, run by a close‑knit family team. Our Victorian building and modern annex offer comfort, familiarity and a calm environment. We focus on gentle, person‑centred care delivered by long‑standing staff who know every resident well.

The house itself

The Oaklands is a Victorian house in Bridgend, with a modern annex, close to the town and its shops and services. Its rooms are light and airy, with high ceilings and traditional windows, and the layout feels familiar to the generation who live here.

We have 18 places. There are two lounges, a large dining room and a lift to the upper floors. At the back is a sheltered, south-facing patio garden with a raised fish pond, and at the front a lawn with shrub borders.

The entrance is wheelchair accessible, there is parking, and a bus stop is directly outside.

Family-run, in practice

Louise, who owns The Oaklands, is closely involved in how the home runs. She meets the manager, deputy manager and senior carers every week. Every three months she sits down with some of our residents, their families and the team to hear what is going well and what could be better, and every year we ask everyone formally for their views.

When you call, you will usually speak to Rhian, our care manager, who can answer most questions or put you through to the right person.

The team, in short

Our team is very stable and we do not use agency staff, so residents see the same faces every day. Every carer is registered with Social Care Wales and trained in the needs of the people we support. We pay above the Real Living Wage, because a settled team gives the best care.
